A song for Advent, based on Isaiah 40:1-11.

For the second week of Advent, I made an adaptation of Isaiah 40:1-11 with original music and lyrics. Feel free to share and use in worship or wherever you’d like.

Lyrics are below:

Comfort, O comfort my people,
Says your God.
Comfort, O comfort my people.

Speak compassion to Jerusalem:
Her penalty has been paid.
Be a voice in the wilderness of sin:
God is coming so make way.

Comfort, O comfort my people,
Says your God.
Comfort, O comfort my people.

Every mountain will be flattened to the ground,
Every valley will be raised.
Where the rocks and boulders block your path
Will soon become the plains.

Cry out, cry out!
Let’s not wither up.

Go up on a mountaintop and shout,
God is coming any day.
Like a shepherd, God will tend the flock,
Raise it loud, don’t be afraid.

Comfort, O comfort my people,
Says your God.
Comfort, O comfort my people.

Let’s not wither up.
